When I first moved here, I came with 1 cat, Phoenix (read more about her & see her pics on an upcoming page). About a year later, Samantha showed up, and
about a year after that, sadly, Phoenix left us.
I knew Phoenix would want me to help other cats, and there were plenty around, so I devised a plan. I would take one in at a time, get vet care for it, and try to
re-home it before I took the next one in. But it didn't work out as planned!
The second kitty I took in, Tabitha (read more about her on an upcoming page) was in the advanced stages of pregnancy, Two days after I got her home from the
vet, she gave birth to twin kittens! Jacob & Star...they were so delightful I couldn't say good-bye! Sadly, Tabitha, passed away in January this year, after a
brave fight with soft tissue sarcoma (cancer).
About two months later, I decided it was time to let another kitty in, and that kitty was Precious. Turned out she was also heavily pregnant and gave birth to 4
kittens. The boy was re-homed, but his sisters were ill as kittens, and by the time I could re-home them, I couldn't say good bye!
Everyone gets along incredibly well! The "daytime stars" are aware that many others come to the front door each night for food. They often sit on the other
side of the door and listen to them. Sadly, 2 of Samantha's siblings and some of Precious' former best friends are still out there. See the Kitties Need a New
Hood link to find out how you can help.
Meet the Daytime Stars
When I first saw Samantha, she was about 3 months old and wandering around on a construction site. She
was very frightened and was hiding under cars. It took weeks to coax her out with food, then a few more
weeks before I could get her inside. After about a week of trying to pick her up on the street, I gave up,
hired a trap, and thankfully it worked. I tried for awhile to find Samantha a suitable home, but when it
became apparent that Phoenix was enjoying her company, it was an easy decision to keep her! As the 1st of
the current kitties living here, she is the "top cat"! Which is why I made her picture bigger than the
others (she'd appreciate it!) If it wasn't for Samantha's wonderful nature, I wouldn't have been able to
keep the others. Its almost as if she understands that they need homes just like she did.

Jake is the only male kitty here! He was born in this apartment, to Tabitha, in October 2004. He has a
twin sister, Star. You might notice that Jake's right eye looks different...he was born with a congenital
eye defect and is missing part of his upper eyelid. It caused him a lot of problems as a kitten and we
spent lots of time at the kitty opthamologist, but now I'm able to keep it in good shape with an application
of eye lubricant each day. So, please don't worry if you think his eye looks greasy, its just the ointment!
Jake has a wonderful mellow nature, is the perfect gentleman, and must be kept away from plastic bags as
he thinks they are a tasty snack!

Star is a star! Jake's twin sister and Tabitha's daughter, also born in October 2004. She is so much
fun and so nice to all of the kitties in the place and me too! You will often see her playing with the
kittens, or playing chase games with Samantha (Star is Samantha's favorite cat). Star is very close with
her brother Jake, they are siblings and best friends!
Star is a little bit cross-eyed, but don't worry, she has excellent vision and according to the vet, it is no
big deal. She enjoys human company, is incredibly affectionate and protective.
Precious moved in in March and gave birth to Angel, Sabrina, Sweetie & Tyson 2 weeks later. Tyson has
been re-homed, but the others are still here!
I first met Precious when she was about 3 months old, but unfortunately had no room for her at the time.
Thankfully she was still around almost 2 years later, and I was able to give her a place to live. Precious
was a very friendly kitty when she was living on the street. She was easy to handle, and I was even able to
put her into cages to get her up to the vet for treatment when she needed it. She was also very popular
with the other kitties in the hood, and hung with a good group. She has adjusted really well to sharing a
home with the others, but misses her mates from the hood and is really hoping they can get good homes. To
see how you can help her friends still on the street, please see the "Kitties Need a New Hood" link.
Precious
Angel is Precious' daughter, and sister to Sabrina & Sweetie. She is one of the more active of the
daytime stars! She loves to play & is really happy about starring on the StreetCatCam! There are lots
more toys being thrown around these days, and that makes Angel real happy!
She's really affectionate with people & the other cats and is Jake's favorite kitten! Angel has her own
"kitten clip" and is also a Youtube star. Click here to watch her kitten clip on this website, or here to
watch it on Youtube!

Sabrina is the sister of Angel & Sweetie, and the daughter of Precious. She LOVES to perform and will
be appearing in featured scheduled performances on the StreetCatCam, including "Sabrina Wants a Bean"
and "Jake & Sab Hang Out at the Sink & Play with Water"....watch the Home Page for the "Schedule of
Performances". Ever since she was tiny, she has enjoyed riding around the house on my shoulder. I have
encouraged it cause I think its pretty cool, despite the obvious difficulties it causes me at times! Her
sister Sweetie noticed the attention Sabrina was getting from the behaviour, and started to do it too!
They have gotten really good at doing it without causing me injury. They are available for commercials!
She was very sick as a small kitten, but has recovered incredibly well and is just great to have around!

Sweetie is a big sweetie & that's how she got her name. When not napping or playing, you will often see
her grooming the other kitties from the hood! Sweetie is also very clever. When she noticed the attention
Sabrina was getting from her shoulder rides, she decided to try it as well! She also enjoys crawling up my
leg in order to get a hug! She's so cute, and I think it's kind of cool (and sweet!), so I usually let her do
it, but not if I'm not wearing suitable attire, like thick jeans, otherwise it REALLY hurts. She is getting
pretty adept at doing it without injuring me. She also enjoys jumping on to and riding around on my
shoulder. Her balance is so good that the shoulder rides rarely result in even a scratch on me anymore.
