FEATURED STREET CATS OF THE WEEK!!
Benji
Princess
Zachary (Zach)
Benji is a kind, gentleman cat who is well known for
looking after the kittens in the hood.  He used to appear
regularly on the StreetCatCam at night, and when you
see him, you will notice that, sadly, he has acquired some
scars while living on the street.  Benji is a real survivor.
I suspect he is Samantha & Princess' brother as they
all look alike and have similar gentle natures.  Benji is
like a big teddy bear with a very thick black coat and
loves being brushed and patted, though he's still a little
bit frightened of people.  Sadly Benji is FIV+, though
still in good health and hopefully won't be affected by
it for many years to come.  He will need a special loving,
indoors home where he doesn't mix with FIV- cats.  You
can read a brochure about FIV at the Cornell
University College of Veterinary Medicine website by
clicking here.  He has become the best of friends with
Zach (see above) and would be so grateful to live in
your home, as an only cat, with Zach or with other FIV+
cats. He has been desexed, defleaed, vaccinated and
dewormed and  transport to North America can be
arranged for the right "forever home" (see below)!!  If
you may be able to help Benji or if you have any
questions about him, please email me at

Princess is so beautiful and the most domestic of all
the street cats.  She is loving life indoors and like the
other kitties from the hood, would prefer a home
where she can live inside.  She is very affectionate and
loves lots of attention, loves pats, tummy rubs and nose
nuzzles and purrs up a storm.  She would be best
suited to a home where she can receive a lot of
attention.  She is about 3-4 years old, and though
she's had a tough life living on the streets, she is now
very healthy (putting on weight all the time!), and she
has a lovely nature.  She gets along well with other
cats, particularly her friends from the hood, and
ideally, she'd love to go to a home with her children
Shara & Mya, or another one of her mates from the
hood!  I think Princess may be Samantha & Benji's
sister, as they look incredibly alike, and have very
similar, mellow, gentle natures. Please give her a home
if you can, I'm sure she'll love you and repay you a
million times over for it.  She has been desexed,
vaccinated, microchipped, defleaed and dewormed and
has tested negative for FIV & FELV.  Transport to
North America can be arranged for the right "forever
home" (see below)!!  If you think you can help or have
questions about her, or any of the others, please email
me at

Zach is a polite young man (about 3 years old) with a
ferocious appetite and was very happy to be rescued
from the street and is really looking forward to finding
a forever home where he can feel safe and loved.
Sadly, Zach has tested positive for FIV, but he is very
healthy at the moment & hopefully will remain that way
for many years to come.  He will need a special loving,
indoors home where he doesn't mix with FIV- cats.  You
can read a brochure about FIV at the Cornell
University College of Veterinary Medicine website by
clicking here.   His best mate is Benji (see below) who is
also FIV+.  They would love to find a home together.
Zach had a tough time on the street and foster care is
only a temporary solution.  He will require alot of love
& patient care as he learns to trust you.  He has been
desexed, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed and
transport to North America can be arranged for the
right "forever home" (see below)!!  If you think you can
help or have questions about him, or any of the others,
please email me at

Chelsea
Chelsea is the sister of Fluffy & Nicholas.  Chelsea is
about 15 months old.  She is very playful, loves other
kitties and is loving domestic life.  She has no desire
to go outdoors again and would prefer a home where
she can live indoors.  When she was first rescued,
sadly she had some problems with her nose (which have
since gotten 100% better) and had to be taken to the
vet a few times, so she's still a bit skittish and will
worry you are trying to grab her to take her to the
vet at times!  She's allowing me to touch her at times,
but is still a very frightened kitty and will need an
experienced cat carer to give her lots of TLC and gain
her trust!  She loves the company of other cats and is
very good friends with Andrew, MacKenzie and her
siblings, Fluffy & Nicholas and would love to go to her
new home with one of them. She has been desexed,
microchipped, dewormed & defleaed and has tested
negative for FelV & FIV.    If you would like to give
Chelsea a forever home or have questions about her
first, please email me at

Tasmin is a beautiful young tabby cat who is loving life
as an indoor domestic cat.  She's still a very frightened
kitty and will require some serious TLC from an
experienced cat carer to gain her trust, but she is
coming along incredibly well and is delightful to have
around.  She probably qualifies as the most playful cat
in the house and loves having toys tossed about for her
to chase!  Once she understands that she is safe & loved
in her new home, she will no doubt repay you many times
over with gratitude!  She'd be happy living with other
cats or kittens or on her own.  She has been desexed,
microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, defleaed and has
tested negative for FelV & FIV.  If you would like to
give Tasmin a home, or have any questions about her,

Andrew
Nicholas
Andrew & Nicholas were previous Street Cats
of the Week and still are looking for forever
homes.  They were best friends growing up as
kittens together on the street and have
continued their friendship since their rescue.
Both are very healthy, playful, non-aggressive
juvenilles (app. 1 year old).  They love to play &
hate to fight, so will not do well with aggressive
cats, but are likely to fit right in with most
other kitties.  They love playing together and
would really like to find a home together.  Both
are loving domestic life and are allowing me to
pat them (when they feel like it!).  Nicholas
purrs very loud when being patted!  They are
still both a little timid and will run away from
you if you approach too quickly & they become
frightened.  Nicholas is so clever and was one of
the last kitties to come off the street...he was
able able to outwit the cat trap and eat the
food out of it without triggering it, night after
night, for about 2 months!  They have no desire
to go outside again, and would love to find a
home where they can live indoors!  Both have
been desexed, microchipped, vaccinated,
de-wormed, fe-fleaed and tested negative for
FIV & FELV.  They are fully litter trained.
Please email
andrew@kittiesinthehood.com if
you are interested in giving them a home or
would like more information about them.
Tasmin
Taryn
Taryn is a beautiful young cat, app. 18 months old.
She gave birth on the street in early October and her
kittens have now gone to good homes & Taryn would
like one of her own!  Taryn has been treated poorly
by people when she lived on the street, and is easily
frightened.  She is thoroughly enjoying life indoors,
has become quite playful, and never wants to go out
again!  She is beginning to enjoy pats and gets along
very well with other cats and would probably have the
best chance of adjusting well to a new home, if she
were to go with one of her friends from the hood!  She
will need some TLC to overcome her fear of humans,
and really is only well suited to a very compassionate
person with the patience and love to gain her trust.
She has been desexed, micro-chipped, vaccinated, aids
& leukemia tested, wormed and defleaed.  If you think
you'd like to give Taryn a home, or would like to know
more about her, please email
taryn@kittiesinthehood.com
Kitties Need a New Hood
Which kitties need new hoods?
Sadly, all the cats that feature on this page still need homes.  They are all beautiful little cats who had pretty
tough starts to their lives and they are all deserving of loving homes.  I'm hopeful that some of you will fall in
love with these kitties and help get them into homes where they can be safe and happy.  The group includes
youngsters, the more street smart cats, Samantha's siblings & Precious' best friends.
Fluffy
MacKenzie
Fluffy and MacKenzie have become very close friends since they've been rescued
from the street and would love to find a home together.  Fluffy is a beautiful young
cat, app. 15 months old and she is loving domestic life.  She is the sister of Nicholas and
Chelsea (see below).  She loves to play with toys, other cats and is beginning to enjoy
pats (when she feels like it!).  She's a gorgeous gentle cat who is lots of fun to have
around.  MacKenzie is a very fluffy tabby cat, app. 2 years old.  Mack is a cat's cat and
gets along very well with all the other kitties.  He'd really like to find a home where he
could live with at least one of his mates from the hood.  Sadly, I believe MacKenzie has
been treated poorly by a person in the past, as he is still easily frightened.  MacKenzie
will need a very experienced cat carer to give him lots of love and gain his trust.  Both
Fluffy & MacKenzie have been de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, defleaed and
dewormed and tested negative for FELV & FIV.  If you think you might like to give
them a home or have any questions about them, please email

Mya
Shara
Shara, Mya & Fluffy
Shara & Mya are sisters and the best of friends and
are looking for a home together.  They spent
approximately 8 months living on the street prior to
their rescue.  They are Princess' children and like her,
have beautiful, gentle natures.  They are app. 15
months old and are happy, playful, energetic kitties
who love playing with toys, each other, and the other
kitties from the hood.  Shara loves pats and tummy
rubs and purrs up a storm.  Mya is still a bit
frightened and will require some TLC from an
experienced cat carer to gain her trust.  But she is a
real sweetie and often sits with me while I watch tv on
the sofa!   Both have been desexed, micro-chipped,
vaccinated, defleaed, dewormed and tested negative
for FelV & FIV.  If you would like to give them a
home, or have questions about them, please email
